President: Chip Batson of Greenville , SC

The President shall be responsible for carrying out the directives of the Board of Directors. Duties include strategic planning, ensuring Upstate SORBA goals are consistent with SORBA and with the chapter member’s desires, ensuring that important action items are accomplished, researching and pursuing funding, attending SORBA meetings, and supporting all board members and club activities. Additionally, the President shall be responsible for attending SORBA Board of Director’s meetings.

 

Vice President: Liz McNamara of Greenville, SC

will be responsible for assisting the president in administrative tasks and shall represent Upstate SORBA in the absence of the President. Additionally, the Vice President shall be responsible for establishing monthly meetings, location and content as well as ensuring volunteer hours are accurately tracked and reported.

 

Secretary: Renee Lean of Greenville , SC

The Secretary shall keep up with the official policies of the organization and keep the minutes of all meetings and shall distribute such minutes promptly to webmaster as well as posting on Facebook page. The Secretary shall also maintain the chapter by-laws and Upstate SORBA archives.

 

Treasurer  Molly Fair Rentz

The Treasurer will track and maintain the chapter financial records. In addition, they will manage the financial resources of Upstate SORBA, and shall assure that all books and accounts of Upstate SORBA are accurately kept and shall provide a full and detailed financial report, monthly to the Upstate SORBA Board of Directors. The Treasurer will also be responsible for providing monthly and yearly financial reports to the Treasurer of SORBA which include a simple word document in addition to Upstate SORBA bank statements.

The Webmaster will maintain the Chapter website at upstatesorba.org in a timely fashion. They will also coordinate communications with the Secretary to update the US Facebook page.

 

Trail Work & Rides Coordinators:

Director of Trail Works will be responsible for scheduling, promoting on Facebook and coordinating Trail Work events and reporting those hours to the Vice President. Goal will be six or more events per year. This position reports directly to the Executive Board. This position may have up to three Trail Work Coordinators reporting to them.

The Group Rides Coordinators will be responsible for scheduling, promoting on Facebook and coordinating Group Ride events and reporting those hours to the Vice President. Goal is eight or more rides per year.

Duties of the Director of Advocacy will begin writing a MOU (Memorandum of Understanding) with Paris Mtn, City of Greenville, Croft State Park….giving us a written document as to what we can and cannot do, and what is open to as riders. This has been SORBA’s main goal for all chapters....to have a MOU with all area land managers so that we don't lose access to any local trails as well as have a guideline of what we can do on those trails.

Director of Sustainable Trails:  John Darrohn of Greenville, SC Contact: This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it The Director of Sustainable Trails will support the Race Director, the Director of Trail Works and Regional Group Rides Coordinator by providing technical support and education in the arenas of engineering, construction, and erosion control. Attempt to make all designed, built, and maintained trails sustainable to the greatest extent possible. Thy will consider current and future trails as well as any work efforts against IMBA, SORBA, and PTBA standards.

The Fundraising/Sponsorship Coordinator will determine if the TRAIL BUCKS Program remains viable. This will include cultivating relationships with area bike shops and outdoor companies. Other opportunities include race, race team and event (oyster roast) sponsorships.

The Public Relations Coordinator would write articles for IMBA/SORBA as well as work with to communicate our events to the local media.


Clubs Liaison: Bob Rentz

The Clubs Liaison will coordinate efforts between all the bike and trail clubs in the area. Ensure that the local bike shops join our Chapter. Our intention is to support each other by joining their email lists, checking their websites and possibly attending their meetings and updating the Chapter as needed. –These clubs would include, but are not limited to, Spinners, Bikeville, Upstate Forever, Spartanburg Freewheelers, Friends of Paris Mtn, Friends of Croft and Pisgah SORBA. Additionally, this person would assist in coordinating joint projects (group rides , clinics, trail work) and make sure our projects/events are communicated to them and vice versa using social media such as Facebook and the Upstate SORBA Forum.


Recruitment Coordinator(s):

The Recruitment Coordinators will be responsible for scheduling, promoting on Facebook and coordinating recruitment events at Paris Mtn as well as at local races, film festivals, etc. Goal is eight or more events per year. This person will be responsible for staffing, pick-up, set-up and break down of Ustate SORBA tent, table, giveaways, etc.
